What is the SurgiWire Procedure?
The SurgiWire procedure is a new approach to removing deep facial lines, scars and depressions that is quick to perform and highly effective. It enables your doctor to release the underlying attachments in the skin that cause noticeable lines between the brows, or along the sides of the nose. Depressed acne scars may also be improved.

The SurgiWire releases the underlying attachments of deep wrinkles.

How is the SurgiWire Procedure Performed?
The SurgiWire procedure can be performed under local anesthesia in the doctor’s office in about an hour. The doctor makes a few tiny punctures in the skin with special needles and directs a very fine surgical wire under the skin beneath the wrinkle. The wire is removed completely and the deep line is released. There are no incisions.

Am I a SurgiWire Procedure Candidate?
If you would like to diminish the appearance of deep lines, scars or depressions in a fast, office-based procedure, the SurgiWire procedure may be for you. To visualize how this procedure would work for you, place your fingers above your eyebrows and pull the skin apart between the brows to flatten out the deep lines. Or, place your fingers on your cheek bones and pull outward to flatten the lines along the sides of your nose.

If the skin appears smoother and wrinkles are diminished, your doctor can help you decide if the procedure is right for you.

How Does the SurgiWire Procedure Compare to Other Techniques?
There are a variety of approaches to wrinkle reduction that can be accomplished with injections: the administration of paralytic agents, synthetic fillers or fat. Paralytic agents are injected into the muscles under the facial skin and fat, and ease the appearance of wrinkles by decreasing the motion of muscles of expression. Synthetic fillers are injected beneath the skin depression, and are intended to lessen the depth of mild to moderate wrinkles by plumping the area immediately under the skin. Fat injections also work by the same principle, but the “filler” is your own fat harvested from another area of the body. In situations where wrinkles are deeper, the cosmetic correction from these approaches can become less effective.

The SurgiWire procedure is unique as it removes the connection to deep structures that cause the wrinkles to worsen over time.

What Can I Expect After My Procedure?
After your procedure, you may experience some temporary swelling and bruising in the treatment area, which may take a week or so to completely resolve. The first night, it’’s important to rest with your head elevated to decrease swelling and bruising. You can use a cold compress for comfort and to help control swelling. Medication may be prescribed for post-treatment discomfort. If you’re like most SurgiWire patients, you’ll be very pleased with your refreshed appearance, although it may take a few weeks or more to see the final results. Results last a variable length of time. A number of factors, including heredity and lifestyle, all play a role in your long-term results.

What are the Procedure Risks?
Although problems are rare, and usually minor, it’s best to discuss possible complications with your doctor. And remember that you can help minimize risks by following the instructions you receive from your healthcare professional, both before and after the procedure.
